Senior Executives

Terry Bieker is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a member of the Board of Directors of PRA International. Mr. Bieker has led PRA since 2006, first as interim CEO then as permanent CEO in May 2007. He brings a wealth of global, strategic and operating experience to PRA, including executive positions in the fields of drug discovery, clinical diagnostics and medical devices.

Prior to joining PRA, Mr. Bieker served as Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioSource International, Inc. from 2003 to 2005. His experience from 1999 to 2003 includes leadership roles as Director and Chief Executive Officer of several medical device corporations, including Axia Medical Solutions, and as Chief Operating Officer for SafeSkin, Inc. From 1989 to 1997, Mr. Bieker was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sanofi Diagnostics Pasteur, Inc. Before that, he held various executive positions with Genetic Systems Corporation and American Hospital Supply Corporation.

Mr. Bieker is a graduate of the University of Minnesota.

Colin Shannon is President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for PRA. Mr. Shannon, who has a history of success leading operations at high growth clinical research organizations, was named to his position in May 2007.

Prior to joining PRA, Mr. Shannon held various executive leadership roles with Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD), including Executive Vice President - Global Clinical Operations, COO for the company’s European division and Chief Financial and Administration Officer for Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Mr. Shannon earned his M.B.A. from London's City University and is board certified by the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.

Linda Baddour was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in June 2007. She has a proven track record in managing the financial activities of a fast-growing, global clinical research firm.

Before joining PRA, Ms. Baddour held several executive positions, including Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller and most recently CFO at Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD). During her tenure as PPD’s CFO, the company posted greater than 20 percent annual revenue growth and industry-leading margins, while consistently meeting revenue and earnings targets. Ms. Baddour also managed the groups responsible for mergers and acquisitions, facilities, procurement, contracts and proposals, and information technology.

Ms. Baddour earned her M.B.A. and B.S. degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

David W. Dockhorn, Ph.D., was named Executive Vice President, Product Registration-The Americas in September 2007. He is charged with directing PRA’s operations in the Americas and delivering overall client satisfaction. Dr. Dockhorn has held several leadership positions at PRA. Most recently he served as Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations, a position he held since 2003. Prior to that he was Senior Vice President, North American Clinical Operations for the company.

Dr. Dockhorn joined PRA International in 1997 as Vice President of Operations and Regional Director of the Lenexa, Kansas operations. Under his leadership, the Lenexa office became PRA’s fastest growing and most profitable trials management center.

Before joining PRA, Dr. Dockhorn worked, along side his father Dr. Robert Dockhorn, for International Medical Technical Consultants, Inc. (IMTCI), a Clinical Research Organization acquired by PRA in 1997. There, he focused on data management and clinical trials, including Phases I–IV. He held positions of increasing responsibility, from Study Coordinator to Vice President of Clinical Research. He also developed therapeutic expertise in the respiratory field.

Dr. Dockhorn received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from Texas Tech University.

Susan C. Stansfield, Ph.D., is Executive Vice President, Product Registration – Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific, a position she has held since September 2007.

Before joining PRA Dr. Stansfield served as Senior Vice President, Project Management and Clinical Operations, Europe with Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD). Under her leadership, the European operations achieved substantial increases in revenue, gross profit and operating margin.

Dr. Stansfield has also held senior management positions at Quintiles and Innovex, where she was responsible for business process improvement, leading the operational services across Europe and managing full-service clinical research projects. She began her career in clinical research in various positions with the Wellcome Research Foundation, the Janssen Research Foundation and Parke Davis.

Dr. Stansfield earned a B.Sc. in Physiology and Biochemistry from Nottingham University, and a Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology from Reading University.

Bruce Teplitzky is Executive Vice President, Business Development, a position he has held since 2005. He directs PRA’s proposal and contracts management, marketing, and strategic business development activities. Prior to his current position, Mr. Teplitzky was Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Development.

A 20-year veteran of the drug development industry, Mr. Teplitzky joined PRA in 1996 as Vice President of Operations and Regional Director, which included overseeing the company’s Charlottesville Trials Management Center. He possesses an extensive background in clinical research and administered several global programs while working in the United Kingdom for Corning Besselaar. He also worked in clinical research at Stuart Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca).

Mr. Teplitzky earned his M.M.Sc. at the Emory University School of Medicine. He received his B.S. from Emory University in Biologic Sciences.

Bucky Walsh became Executive Vice President, Corporate Development in 2006 after serving as Senior Vice President, Business Services since 2003. During his 21-year career with PRA, Mr. Walsh has held a series of increasingly responsible technical, business development and managerial positions in both the United States and Europe.

In his current role, Mr. Walsh oversees PRA’s technology infrastructure and corporate development activities, including quality and process management, quality assurance, and information technology. He is a member of PRA’s Executive Committee and leads the company’s Senior Management Committee, which is responsible for driving process improvements throughout the company.

His international experience with PRA includes a year in Germany where he oversaw operations of the company’s European offices. While there, he also provided guidance and assistance with European marketing, budgeting and staff development programs.

A Certified Project Management Professional, Mr. Walsh earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from James Madison University.

Willem Jan Drijfhout, Ph.D., became Senior Vice President of Early Development Services in 2006, heading all early phase development and bioanalytical lab work for PRA International. Dr. Drijfhout was Chief Scientific Officer for Pharma Bio-Research prior to the company being acquired by PRA. He joined Pharma Bio-Research in 1996 and became a member of the Executive Board in 1999.

A pharmacologist by training, with more than 15 years of experience in drug development and 12 years of experience in Phase I clinical trials, he has been involved in the study design and conduct of several hundred Phase I studies.

Dr. Drijfhout holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy.

Jeff Chambers was named Senior Vice President, Human Resources in November 2007. Mr. Chambers strives to shape the culture to fit today's business challenges and establish PRA Human Resources as a service-oriented, strategic partner, aligned with corporate objectives and its clients. He plans to implement and manage programs that will make PRA an innovator in providing and understanding the benefits of a quality work environment which support work-life issues.

Before joining PRA, Mr. Chambers spent eight years as Vice President, Human Resources for SAS, a software company that was named one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" for each of those years. Prior to this role, he worked as Senior Corporate Counsel for SAS and Corporate Counsel at MassMutual Life Insurance Company.

Mr. Chambers earned a B.A. in political science from Bucknell University and a J.D. from Villanova University of Law.
